I was struggling with Apache James for the past couple of weeks on my VPS but having a secure, reliable and 24/7 mail server is not easy! This was until I found Google Apps! It can empower you domain with Google applications specially email. I can use its GUI for sending or receiving emails on my domains, add new users/emails for my domain and I also can send emails using Javamail from my application through my domain name using smtp.gmail.com as the SMTP server.
It really took the burden of writing a mail client and maintaining a mail server off my shoulders.
