Australia and Migrants

I see these days the immigration laws have been tightened a little, for example IELTS score has been raised to 7 in all bands to get 25 points. This is in fact a good thing as people when they come here will have less issues adapting to the new culture, etc but this has bad effects too.

In case of my birth country, Iran I see most of the top students and the so called "brains" are being sucked in by Canada and US universities and institutes or migrate there. They rarely come to Australia. One reason in my opinion is tight immigration rules among other things. In the other hand accepting refugees will slow the immigration process for skilled migrants.

In my opinion to have a bright future for Australia we need to:

1- Have better mechanisms to invite top overseas students\workers here to study and live. Give students grants and offer permanent residency. They can help build a better Australia.
2- Do not fill the society with refugees instead of scientists! I also see many people claim a fake convert to Christianity and can come here instantly!
3- Accelerate the immigration process for skilled migrants. I have had many friends of mine, good engineers, who have been waiting for their skilled migration visa for more than 2 years and they also applied for Canada in the meantime and went there in less than a year instead.
